Josie Matlick

Associate Director of Coaching, Girls Programming

Josie Matlick serves as our Director of Coaching for Girls Programming, where she leads the club’s development pathway for female players and coaches across all age groups. A former collegiate standout turned rising coaching leader, Josie brings energy, insight, and a deep commitment to growing the girls’ game in Northwest Arkansas.

A native of Kansas, Josie played NCAA Division I soccer at Kansas State University, where she was a key contributor during the program’s foundational years. Known for her technical ability, vision and leadership on the field, she transitioned seamlessly into coaching following her playing career — applying the same high standards and competitive mindset she brought as a player.

Prior to joining Sporting Arkansas, Josie gained experience across multiple levels of the game, coaching in youth club and school-based settings while completing coaching education through United Soccer Coaches and U.S. Soccer Federation programs. Her approach emphasizes player confidence, tactical awareness, and creating training environments that are challenging, encouraging and rooted in long-term development.

At Sporting Arkansas, Josie serves as the head coach of two teams and acts as the club’s primary liaison to the Development Player League (DPL). She also leads the “Girls in the Game” initiative, an internal program focused on empowering young female athletes and creating a strong, visible pipeline of girls’ talent in Northwest Arkansas.

As one of the club’s most visible female leaders, Josie plays a pivotal role in shaping the culture of the girls’ program — mentoring players, supporting families, and inspiring the next generation to aim higher, work harder and love the game.
